How is this different?

Woombie Med Pods are now in hospitals ALL over the US! One question we hear each time we introduce the product to a new unit, clinician, or parents is, "How is this different?"

1. How is this different than a blanket?

• Blankets can come loose and become a suffocation risk
• Blankets can also swaddle too tightly and lead to cold shoulders and hip dysplasia
• Blankets have to be wrapped and unwrapped for procedures, vital signs checks (Q2 or Q4) 
• Blankets don't allow a baby to move within the swaddle to self-soothe

Woomie Med Pods provide a 360 degree swaddle similar to the womb, but the peanut shape allows range of motion within the confines of the swaddle. Vital signs can be checked through fabric or the double zipper, which decrease hyperstimulation and igniting Moro reflex during wrapping/unwrapping that would be required of a blanket swaddle. The signature bebeflex fabric allows baby to stretch up against the fabric and self soothe by moving hands to chest, sides, or even football goal to self soothe and sleep happily. 

2. How is this different than the sleeping sacks that are donated?

• A sleeping sack does not provide thermoregulation
• A sleeping sack does not provide the containment that helps the infant feel secure
• A sleeping sack does not cocoon the baby in a way that promotes flexion and muscle tone

3. How is this different than the products we love in the NICU?

• Woombie Med Pods were actually designed for full-term babies on pediatric units and mother/baby
• We have premmie and micro-preemie sizes and they can be used in conjunction with other developmental care devices
