Necessity is the mother of invention. I imagine my business partner, Karen Barski, repeating this to herself as she sewed the first peanut shaped swaddle pod to quiet her screaming baby over twelve years ago. That peanut-shaped swaddle was later named the Woombie and has since sold over a million and won over twenty awards for innovation and design. It is, THE number one swaddle device on the market. Theres simply nothing as effective or beneficial to infant development than a Woombie. Karen and I are pleased to announce the Woombie Sleepy Pod to our line of products for hospitals! The Woombie Sleepy Pod is based on the original Woombie that has calmed and comforted hundreds of thousands of babies and will hopefully be used in liue of those outdated, stiff newborn blankets that have been used since the dawn of time. How is the Woombie Sleepy Pod better?

We get asked often by sales reps and distributors, "What's the pushback, if any, on the use of your product?"
I always joke, "Well, in the swaddle world, it's Bloods vs Crypts" meaning that clinicians and hospitals are either pro-swaddle or anti-swaddle and theres no middle ground. They're die hards either way. The irony of those that are against swaddling is that our product actully fixes ALL the issues they throw at us regarding traditional swaddling. Here's the naysayers platform against swaddling: "Swaddling leads to cold shoulders and hips" Woombie Med Pods has a patented peanut shape that allow range of motion in shoulders and hips. "Swaddling can come loose, increasing the risk of suffocation" Woombie Med Pods have NO moving parts and cannot come loose. They meet the AAP standards for safe sleep. "Swaddling prevents babies from self-soothing" Woombie Med Pods allow the infant to move within the confines of the swaddle to hands over heart, field goal, or side positions for comfort. "Swaddling leads to frequent wrappy and unwrapping for vital signs and patient care" Woombie Med Pods work around diaper changes, medical devices, treatment needs and allow easy access to patient without hyperstimulation. One of the voices behind the anti-swaddle movement is a very knowledgeable, skilled clinician, Dr. Rachel Moon. We'd be honored if Dr. Moon would be willing to review Woombie Med Pods and give us an opportunity to show her we support her goals by creating a safe, effective, and developmentally apropriate swaddle that provides continuity of care berween hospital and home and eases the transition from the womb to the world. Be well. Swaddle all, Chelsea Vail Its common to think NICU when referring to hospitalized infants, but Woombie Med Pods can actually be utilized on other inpatient units, including the ER. Infants come through the ER for any number of needs including illness, injury, separation from caregiver...all often trauma inducing. Woombie Med Pods could help reduce traume caused by an ER visit by swaddling the baby 360 degrees and providing comfort. 1. Procedural Support An infant being treated in the ER may need an IV, blood draw, VCUG, breathing treatment or nasal canula, pulsox, heel stick, or scans. Being swaddled 360 degrees in a Woombie Med Pod creates the feeling of being held, reduces triggering the Moro reflex (fight or flight response) and could keep the baby calm during procedure which may reduce likelihood of injuries. 2. Sleep The Original Woombie has been helping infants sleep safely and comfortably at home nearly twelve years now without a single safety recall. Imagine swaddling a baby in the ER in a Woombie Med Pod and letting them sleep their way to comfort and healing. 3. Calming Any mother will tell you its instinctual to wrap a new baby up to calm them down. An infant in the ER will likely be sick, tired, hungry, and scared. They'll likely demonstrate the infant stress signals of splayed fingers and toes, arched back, and diverted gaze. A Child Life Specialist, parent/caregiver, or clinician could ease their fears and bring them to a state of calm by using the Woombie Med Pod. Talk to your sales rep about bringing Woombie Med Pods to your ER or purchase from WoombieMedPods.com Woombie Med Pods are now in hospitals ALL over the US! One question we hear each time we introduce the product to a new unit, clinician, or parents is, "How is this different?"
1. How is this different than a blanket?
2. How is this different than the sleeping sacks that are donated?
3. How is this different than the products we love in the NICU?
